Super Grom Luke Marks Wins Open Men's at NSSA Season Opener

NSSA South East kicked off the 2011/2012 season this past weekend with a solid over head swell, as Melbourne Beach, FL (Coconut Park) hosted the NSSA South East season opener. A solid ESE ground swell provided well overhead surf for Saturday and most of Sunday.
12 year-old Luke Marks showed why he's the East Coast's top young contender by winning both Open Men's titles Saturday and Sunday, throwing down solid scores to reach the Open Men's final.
During the final, Marks waited patiently for set waves out the back and was rewarded, posting a 7.5 and 8.0 wave scores and taking the win.
Marks also demonstrated his wave knowledge in Sunday's Open Men's final, in deteriorating conditions thanks to a strong storm front with 20mph offshore winds.
Luke also won the Open Junior's and Explorer Boys divisions. After surfing 22 heats in 2 days, making 8 finals, and winning 4 of them, Marks was awarded the well-deserved "IRON MAN" award.
